Design
One of our brand concepts is “To offer authentic value to our guests” and the hotel pursues an “authentic” design that is not influenced by trends.
We believe that “authentic” design is not only about capturing the superficial characteristics of a region, but also about expressing “deep” themes that go beyond a deep understanding of its history and culture, and by eliminating imitation as much as possible, we sublimate them to “authenticity”.
Our four THE GATE HOTELs in Japan have been designed by four different design firms that share and deeply understand our philosophy. They have sublimated our philosophy into a hotel building through their wonderful design.
THE GATE HOTEL KAMINARIMON
With the theme of “Intimate Hotel – A Hotel for the Age where Choices are made through a Way of Life,” the hotel becomes a place where people can share a free and creative sensibility that values the individual and expands the spirit of imagination. The design is based on the hope that the environment and services will connect with people’s affinity and continue to be loved for a long time.
THE GATE HOTEL TOKYO
The design concept of The Gate Hotel Tokyo’s is “Hana to Iki” (flower and style), and we have created a special moment that will remain in your heart through an open and gorgeous interior design that makes you feel at one with the city.
THE GATE HOTEL KYOTO TAKASEGAWA
The Gate Hotel design draws inspiration from the original Rissei Elementary School building, with a contemporary overlay. Built in 1928, its façade is synonymous with architecture from the Taisho era, characterized by many as a romantic, euphoric period of cultural creativity. As a result of the country opening up to western influences and technologies, the building is a product and fusion of Western design rooted in tradition. Rissei Elementary School stands as a symbol of Japan’s modernity, both in its construction (as the first building in Kyoto to use reinforced concrete) and its function (as a public school). Our contemporary design celebrates this rich, storied history by deriving inspiration from original features, textures and colours.
THE GATE HOTEL RYOGOKU
This design concept is “TIME & RIVER”. Time spent in the ever-changing city with the unchanging flow of the Sumida River.
