This time, we participated in a fragrant bag-making experience!
In this experience, participants mix several kinds of fragrant woods to create their own favorite fragrant bag.
First, we smelled the various fragrant kinds of wood one by one to create a basic mixture.
After that, we gradually add fragrances of our choice according to our own preferences.
Two of us had the chance to try it out, and we found it fascinating that we could make two completely different fragrances when we finally put them in the bag.
The history of the fragrant sachet is very old, having been used by people since the Nara period (710-794).
It is said to be a traditional Japanese culture that has been used for a long time as a way to casually enjoy fragrance. People put them in a chest of drawers to transfer fragrance to clothes or put it in their bag. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of romance when I thought of enjoying fragrances in the same way as my predecessors who lived in the Nara period.
The color of the bag in which the fragrance is placed can be chosen from several different colors, which made the experience exciting right up to the very end.
