Too good to be true! Yoshikami, a Popular Japanese-Style Western Restaurant

Yoshikami, a Western-style restaurant established in 1951 in the heart of Asakusa’s Roku-ward as an open counter-style restaurant with 10 seats, will introduce you to the nostalgic taste of Japanese-style western cuisine that has been loved for over 70 years!

Location

The restaurant is located at the back of the Asakusa Roku-gu area. It is marked by a cute cook’s mark and a sign that reads “Too good to be true!” It is a popular restaurant, so even on weekdays, there is often a line in front of the restaurant at lunchtime. It is about a short 5-minute walk from The Gate Hotel Kaminarimon.

Inside the restaurant are many customers and cooks! The lineup of celebrity autographs is also likely to catch your eye.

A variety of standard Japanese-style Western dishes

The restaurant’s recommended menu items include beef stew with an original demi-glace sauce and beef fillet steak with lots of garlic. In addition, there are a variety of other standard Japanese-style Western dishes such as hamburgers, hashed rice, and Neapolitan spaghetti. They all look so delicious that you might have a hard time deciding which to eat!

Tasty Omelet Rice

I ordered omelet rice. As I sat down at the counter, the cook fried the ketchup rice in front of me with brilliant skill, and in little time she created and served me a beautifully shaped omelet. I was impressed! When she finished the omelet, the staff in the hall quickly grabbed the plate, saying, “You served it beautifully, didn’t you? Great job!” and served me my meal. I left the restaurant with a full and satisfied stomach. There is no better feeling than the one you get after having a delicious meal.

The omu-rice (omelet rice)! The old-fashioned nostalgic taste is irresistible.

I felt like I understood a little bit why this place has been loved for so many years. The nostalgic atmosphere and familiar taste of Asakusa, of course, but perhaps the most appealing thing about this restaurant is the warmth of the people. I can’t wait to visit this store again.
