What kind of store is Yumeyakata?

They offer one-day rental and dressing services for sightseeing in Kyoto, as well as hair-set and photography services on the day of rental, and even online kimono rental.

Yumeyakata Gojo Store is located about a 3-minute walk from Gojo Station on the Karasuma Subway Line, right in front of the Gojo Takakura stop on the city bus, and Yume-Kan Oike Villa is located about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station on the same subway line.

About Hosai Kimono Shop

Kyubei, the founder of the company, opened a kimono complete outfitter in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period (1600-1868). This kimono wholesaler, which developed in Muromachi, Kyoto, the former commercial center of Japan, is the root of today’s Yumeyakata.

The fifth generation head of the family, Kazufumi Kubomura, established Kyoto Kimono Rental Yumeyakata in Karasuma Gojo in 2002 with the aim of promoting kimono more widely. For more than 160 years, the kimono shop Toyosai has continued to bring gorgeous colors to the streets of Kyoto.

Yumeyakata offers a variety of plans to suit different occasions and budgets, including standard plans, plans with photography, plans with a tea ceremony experience, and others to suit your needs. All plans are very economical and include a kimono dressing.

Please note that the Oike Villa offers only the photography plan and the tea ceremony experience. When making a reservation, please check in advance which location is available for the course you wish to book.

Kimono (Yukata) Rental Plan (regular price: from 5,280 yen, advance reservation: from 4,180 yen)

The most popular plan at Yumeyakata

is the Yukata Kimono Rental Plan. The price is the same no matter which pattern you choose. There are more than 2,000 kimonos with a variety of different colors to choose from.

You can choose from cute kimonos with original patterns to chic, stylish patterns. You will be able to find the perfect kimono that suits you and your time exploring Kyoto. Please note that yukata rentals are available only during the summer season.

Hakama Strolling Plan (regular price: from 7,700 yen, advance reservation: from 7,150 yen)

This plan is recommended for those who want to enjoy strolling around Kyoto in a different atmosphere than in a kimono. It is easier to move around in than a kimono and is perfect for those who want to enjoy an active stroll. Retro and Taisho Romantic Hakama style and Samurai style coordination are also available.

Lace Cordage Plan (regular price: from 9,900 yen, advance reservation: from 7,700 yen)

This plan is recommended for those who want to wear their favorite kimono in a more glamorous way. This plan also includes a braided down hair set and ribbon. You can enjoy wearing your own original kimono with a combination of lace accessories, many of which are one-of-a-kind.

Kimono (yukata) rental plan for couples (regular price: from 10,560 yen; advance reservation: from 8,000 yen)

This special plan is perfect for couples who want to make their trip to Kyoto more memorable and celebrate anniversaries and birthdays in a spectacular way. Strolling the streets of Kyoto in kimono, which is not something you usually have a chance to wear, will definitely make your Kyoto trip more memorable and different from your usual date.

Hair Set

A standard hair set with your choice of eight different styles is available for an additional charge. From the standard kimono yakai curl to a unique low pony hairstyle, you can have your hair set in a style that suits you and your chosen kimono.
The staff can also make suggestions to meet your needs, such as a Japanese hair set or order hair arranged according to your own wishes.

Full make-up

For those who want to bring out a different side of themselves to match the kimono, they recommend the addition of full makeup. A professional artist will look into your wishes and create a glamorous look that is different from your usual makeup.

Kyoto Location Photo Plan

The Kyoto Location Photo Plan is recommended for those who want to preserve the memories of their trip to Kyoto in a more beautiful setting. A dedicated photographer will accompany you and make you feel as if you are a model.
One of the attractions of this plan is that you can choose to have your photos taken at your favorite sightseeing spots, such as the Gion Course , where you can still enjoy Kyoto’s typical cityscape, or the Arashiyama Course, where you can feel the magnificent natural beauty of Kyoto.

Tea ceremony experience *Oike Bettei only

This is a recommended plan that will surely help you feel the charm of Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan, more deeply by wearing your favorite kimono and experiencing the traditional tea ceremony.
Reservations can be made for a minimum of three people, but a separate kimono rental fee will be charged at the Oike Villa.

Collaboration plans with The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa are also available.

A collaboration plan for an overnight stay and kimono rental is now available for guests staying at The Gate Hotel Kyoto Takasegawa. The hotel staff will make the reservation arrangements, and payment will be made upon check-in (or in advance), so all you have to do on the day of your stay is visit the Yumeyakata Gojo store.
