GINZA PLATINUM-YA, an Inari Sushi Shop Near the Kabuki-za Theater

There is one item in Ginza that we always like to recommend when seeing off customers who have come from far away. The bullet train ride home is an important time to savor the afterglow of any trip. Therefore, we’d like to introduce Ginza Platinum-ya, an inari sushi store located next to the Kabuki-za Theater, for a treat that gently adds color to such a time.

Elegant inari sushi

Bite-sized and easy to enjoy

One of the features of the inari at this shop is that it is bite-sized. The reason for this is so that Kabuki actors can enjoy them while wearing their stage makeup; as you would expect from a shop located next to the Kabuki-za Theater. The tofu pockets are not too sweet, and perhaps because they are baked, so the resulting inari are relatively light and not greasy. This allows the flavors of the rice inside and the rice seasoning, such as sesame and sansho, to stand out well.

Grilled tofu pockets packed with flavor

This is because the tofu pockets become more savory and tasty when they are grilled, which is a good luck charm for actors.

From the Platinum-ya website

“Inari is a very auspicious snack. The small size of the inari makes you want to eat one, and then another, and then another, and so on.”

The red and white box and the handbag are reminiscent of Kabuki theater.

Standard Products

There are two regular products: Renjishi and Rokkasen Gyokusai. Each comes in a package of 8 pieces for 1,500 yen (tax included).

The photo shows Rokkasen Sagisai, an assortment of six kinds.
It contains two each flavors: sansho and sesame. The seasonal flavor at this time was wasabi.

Renjishi

This product is limited to two flavors, sansho and sesame, and is said to be the most popular.

Rokkasen Sagisai

This is a standard product with six different flavors: sansho, sesame, gomoku, ginger, shiso, and seasonal flavors.

One minute walk from the Kabuki-za Theater

The shop is located right next to the Kabuki-za Theater, along the street (Kobikicho-Dori) that faces the side of the theater. There is also a little eat-in space inside the restaurant. You can also make reservations on the website and receive your order in the store without having to wait, making it perfect for busy travelers. It is about an 8-minute walk from The Gate Hotel Tokyo. Why not extend your visit while enjoying a stroll through Ginza?

If you are coming by train, it is a one-minute walk from Exit 3 or 5 of Higashi-Ginza on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line or Toei Asakusa Line.

Recommended by the hotel’s general manager

In fact, not only our staff but also the general manager of The Gate Hotel Tokyo is a big fan of the inari sold at this shop.

Once you try it, you will never forget it! The sansho and shiso flavors are especially my favorites. Please stop by.

Comment from the General Manager of The Gate Hotel Tokyo

In addition to eating these inari as a bento on the Shinkansen, we recommend this dish as an accompaniment to a stay-at-hotel meal.
