Highlights

Grand Fountain, Fountain Plaza, Second Flower Garden

The Grand Fountain, the biggest symbol of Hibiya Park, is in operation from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day (except on cleaning days once a month) and offers 24 views in a 28-minute cycle. The area around the Grand Fountain, Fountain Plaza, and the Second Flower Garden is a representative landscape of Hibiya Park and often appears in the media as a photo shoot point for television and magazines.

First Flower Garden and Pelican Fountain

The First Flower Bed, a Western-style flower bed with a geometric pattern designed when the park opened in 1903, is another symbol of Hibiya Park, and the view from the Pelican Fountain has often appeared as a backdrop in TV dramas.

Ruins of Hibiya Mitsuke and Shinji Pond

The Shinji Pond in Hibiya Park is a valuable Edo-period structure. In those days, visitors to Edo Castle had to pass through Hibiya Mitsuke, which was protected by guards. The area where Hibiya Mitsuke originally stood is now the Hibiya Crossing, but part of the stone wall was left behind when the park was built. The pond is a favorite haunt for little egrets, great blue herons, ducks, and other birds.

Ginkgo trees

The ginkgo trees lining the S-shaped pathway, which was designed when the park was opened in 1903, still display magnificent yellow leaves.

Cloud-Shaped Pond and Crane Fountain

This pond with a crane fountain is said to be the third oldest fountain in Japan in a city park. Visitors can enjoy the various beauties of the pond in each season: cherry blossoms in spring, and ginkgo and maple leaves in fall and winter.
